The proposed urbanisation of Tauriko West will need to be serviced by infrastructure such as pipes, roads and parks. It makes sense for these services to be provided by the urban council, Tauranga City Council. To help make this happen, the Western Bay of Plenty District Council is considering shifting its boundary.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council will be talking to its community and those affected by the proposed boundary alteration in the coming months.
The recent survey indicated the majority of those surveyed support the idea, but want the Tauriko for Tomorrow planning partners to ensure any urbanisation of the area is well planned and considers the need for efficient roading, improved access to the Wairoa River and the provision of cycleways, walkways and suitable green space.
